Elyssa Lefurgey-Smith is a violinist with a passion for chamber music, collaboration and inspiring young minds. For the past decade Elyssa has been in demand as both a modern and baroque violinist in Toronto performing with groups such as Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and the Aradia Baroque Ensemble. As a violin teacher she was the director of the Kingsway Conservatory Strings program and the founder of the KCM youth orchestra program.

Elyssa’s approach as a teacher

Elyssa Lefurgey-Smith has been actively engaged in teaching, coaching and program development for more than a decade.  She was the director of the strings program at the Kingsway Conservatory of Music in Toronto since 2007 and is the founder of the KCM orchestral program.  She is also a certified Suzuki teacher and has prepared students for every level of RCM exam from beginner to university prep.

Elyssa as a performer

Elyssa’s musical studies began at the age of five under Heilwig von Koenigsloew at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music in British Columbia. After completing studies with violinists Lorand Fenyves in Toronto and Ian Swensen in California, Elyssa moved to Toronto in 2007 and worked for a decade as baroque violinist, chamber musician, teacher and coach before moving to Vancouver Island, BC in 2016.
